Privacy Policy
Last updated 18 October 2026
In short: HoverPill runs on your PC and has no servers of its own. What it shows in the notch is read on your PC and stays there. When you connect Google Calendar or ChatGPT, HoverPill talks to Google or OpenAI directly from your PC, and we never receive your data. We don't sell data, show ads, or use analytics.
Who we are
HoverPill is a desktop app for Windows that puts a notch at the top of your screen, and this website, where you can download it. Both are made by Preetinder Singh Badesha ("we", "us"). If you have a question about this policy, email preetindersingh13per@gmail.com.
What the app does with your data
HoverPill only works with the information it needs to show something in the notch, and it does that on your PC.
Music and media
HoverPill reads what's playing from Windows (title, artist, cover art and which app is playing it) so it can show it in the notch and offer play, pause and skip. This stays on your PC and isn't saved.
Notifications
With your permission in Windows, HoverPill reads the notifications other apps send so it can drop them down from the notch. They're kept in memory for the current session only, so the notch can list recent ones, and they're gone when HoverPill closes. HoverPill saves the names of apps that have sent notifications, so you can turn them off in Settings.
Claude Code
If you install the Claude Code hook, Claude Code sends permission requests (the tool and the command it wants to run) to HoverPill over a connection that never leaves your PC, protected by a random key stored on your PC. Your answer goes straight back to Claude Code. HoverPill doesn't send this anywhere else.
Settings
Your settings are saved in a file in your Windows user profile. They never leave your PC.
Google Calendar
Connecting Google Calendar is optional. If you connect it, HoverPill asks Google for permission to read your
calendars (the calendar.readonly permission) and to see your email address, so Settings can show which account is
connected.
What HoverPill reads, and why
- The list of your calendars, to know which ones you've chosen to show in Google Calendar.
- Your events from the start of today to two weeks ahead: title, start and end time, location, video call link, and whether you declined. HoverPill uses these only to show your next event in the notch, mark days with events on the notch's calendar, and drop a reminder before an event starts.
Where it goes
- Your calendar data goes from Google to HoverPill on your PC, and nowhere else. We have no server that could receive it.
- Events are held in memory while HoverPill runs and refreshed every few minutes. They aren't written to disk.
- The sign-in from Google (a refresh token) is saved on your PC, encrypted with Windows so that only your Windows account can read it.
- HoverPill can't change, create or delete anything in your calendar.
Limited Use
HoverPill's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. In particular, Google user data is used only to show your calendar in HoverPill. It isn't sold, isn't used for advertising, isn't read by people, and isn't used to train AI or machine-learning models.
Disconnecting
Choose Disconnect in HoverPill's Settings, under Accounts. HoverPill deletes its saved sign-in and asks Google to revoke its access. You can also remove HoverPill's access at any time from your Google Account's third-party connections.
ChatGPT
Connecting ChatGPT is optional. If you sign in with ChatGPT, OpenAI shows you what HoverPill can do, including using your ChatGPT plan's usage for your questions.
- What you type in the notch's ChatGPT tab, and the earlier questions and answers from the same conversation, are sent from your PC directly to OpenAI to get an answer. They're sent with storage turned off.
- HoverPill keeps the conversation in memory until you clear it or close HoverPill. It isn't saved to disk.
- Your ChatGPT sign-in is saved on your PC, encrypted with Windows. HoverPill sees your email address and name from OpenAI, to show which account is connected.
- OpenAI handles your questions under OpenAI's privacy policy. You can see your usage and remove HoverPill's access in ChatGPT's settings, or sign out in HoverPill.
This website
- No cookies, no analytics, no tracking, no ads.
- The site remembers, for the current browser tab only, that you've already seen the opening animation, so it doesn't play every time. It's stored in your browser and never sent to us.
- The site's fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when you visit. See Google's privacy policy.
- The company hosting the site may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses and the pages requested.
Sharing
We don't sell, rent or share your personal data. The only services HoverPill talks to are the ones you connect (Google and OpenAI), and only to do what you asked.
Children
HoverPill isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Your choices
- Turn media, notifications or calendar events off in HoverPill's Settings at any time.
- Disconnect Google Calendar or ChatGPT in Settings, under Accounts.
- Uninstalling HoverPill removes the app. Its settings and saved sign-ins may stay in your user profile, so disconnect your accounts first if you want those gone too.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update it here and change the date at the top. If a change affects how Google user data is handled, we'll ask for your consent before it applies.
